If you came to our last meeting, you know that we ran through a few old standards and talked about adding a few “new” tunes into the mix that has become our standby “go to” list for appearances like Folklife. This year we’re scheduled to play on Monday, May 31 at 5:40.
To that end, here’s a prospective set list and we’ll be assembling to rehearse and learn the sets for the next few weeks. If you’re interested in joining us, come by my place in Wallingfor–Wednesdays anytime after 7:00. We’re usually finished by 9:00, but you are welcome to drop by even if it is just to listen and appreciate the unique sonic spectacle of uilleann pipes played en masse.
The Tunes: (I’ve noted if you can find them in the Walsh book–old version, I’m afraid– will try to dig up notes to post for others–let me know via e-mail if you would like them sooner than later! )
Marches: –O’Sullivan Mor (I won’t be a Nun)–Walsh #407 / Shane O’Neill’s (Walsh #409)
Hornpipes: The Honeysuckle (Creegan found a version & Phil noted in some ornaments)/ The Wexford (Walsh #349)
Jigs: Sean Bui (Yellow Jack) –(Walsh #71) / Donnybrook Fair (Walsh #4) / Fraher’s (Walsh #34)
Extra Set: Hogan’s Favorite (Walsh #96) / Connaughtman’s Rambles (Walsh #14/15 ) / Lark in the Morning (Walsh #3)Reels:
Merry Blacksmith (Walsh #154) /Kitty’s Gone a Milking (Walsh #305)
George White’s Favorite (Walsh #227) / Mountain Road (any one have the notes?)
Polkas: Clog / The Other Clog / Mrs. Crowley’s (Walsh #387)–The Clogs are from Joe McKenna and I do have a scan of the Notes and can post or send you copy.
Hope you can join us to go over the tunes–please plan to join us on stage for Folklife!
Cheers,
Rod
